Reflections on my CA2 results

September has been indeed a month full of posts! Sorry for the late post, lazy to post...SA2 is already around the corner...Anyway, glad to announce that I had done well for most subjects for CA2, with a MSG of 1.8.
For my English, I did rather fine, getting a score of 70.7, which is an A2. I am quite happy though, my FIRST A in Victoria School! Guess my Reading Programme pulled me up A LOT, or else with only the screwed up Incident Report Tests, I would end up a B4.
For my Higher Chinese, I got 77 marks, still I don't feel that proud as many people scored quite high. I screwed up my comprehension. Anyway this is only the temporary score without CA2a and TFU.
As for my History, I got 80 marks, but still, I am not that happy as many people got same mark as me and the fact that my target was not reached. Same as HCL, this is only the temporary score without TFU.
For my Maths, I once again as tyco as CA1, gaining a score of 90. Guessed I scored quite high in my class tests and CA2. I think that we should score well in CAs to serve as a back-up since many people will screwed up their SA2, like me last year.
For my Science (Physics), I scored 77.2 marks, though the report card stated 80 marks (that's the mark for CA2 paper without TFU and class test). I feel quite okay. I think that I could score better if I did better in my first class test. My TFU is the WINNER, ranking first in class with the score 38/40. Too bad it only constitutes a small percentage.
My Art is the MOST SCREWED UP, getting a C5 with a score of 56, ranking LAST in class, probably LAST in level!!!!!!! Thanks to that CURSED presentation, JUST PASSED! My flip book was not good too. Guessed I got a wrong partner who just abruptly did the presentation. Still, it was both of us fault, so we decided to salvage the score by improving our attitude in our real animation. I NEVER EVER going to take Art next year!
There is Home Economics but not recorded since either there was no CA marks or it is not ready yet, since we have not completed our teddy bears. Bet I am going to screw up...
Overall, I am quite happy with my results, but still, there are rooms for improvement, especially for Art. All I hoped for SA2 is a better Art score and maybe this kind of standard or better, to get a good class and level position and get a good subject combination.

NCC (Land) 3 Big Test! + Evening of Music & Drama (EMD) 2009

On 18/9/2009, 2 major events in school for me. First was the NCC tests which consisted of arm drills, Individual Field Craft (IFC) and Total Defence Badge Test (Silver), next was the Evening of Music & Drama (EMD) 2009 produced by our school ELDDS.
First was my NCC tests, firstly we were split into 2 groups, the first group did IFC first followed by drill test, and vice versa for second group. I was in the first group.
We proceeded to the place behind the hostel. I was the first in the group to do the IFC test. Basically IFC means the ways to help you survive during war, they tested you something like how to judge distances, how to camouflage yourselves, how to move and field signals. I screwed up one of my field signals and judging distances! I was worried that I did not do well.
The second test was drill test. They tested you on Rusok, Turong & Hormat Senjata. I must say that I screwed up badly, especially Rusok Senjata when I almost could not catch the rifle.
The last test was Total Defence Badge Test (Silver), where I did my bronze one last year. It was just some power point slides about how to defend Singapore by our platoon sergeant, the school head prefect. We then did some quizzes set by them. Ha ha it was damn easy, much than what I expected!
The results came out. For me? Not so bad lah. I got third in my platoon for IFC with a score of 79 and first in the Total Defence Test with a score of 19/20 , surprisingly! I did not get top 5 for drill test, no surprise-after all I screwed up badly.
So that's what happened for my tests.
For the next half an hour, I waited for the EMD.
Finally the EMD started. EMD was held every 2 years, so this was my first time, on alternative years, the Dramafest is held instead (which I attended last year). It consisted of performances, such as singing, playing instruments by our Concert Band, Chinese Orchestra, plays and even magic shows! The emcee was my classmate! I must say that all of them put up a wonderful performance! I was deeply impressed! There was a 15-minute
intermission where I ate my dinner. Then we continued with second half of the event. To me, EMD was quite an interesting event, too bad only me and 3 other classmates turned up. By the time I got home, it was already 11.15 p.m.! I am looking forward to the Dramafest next year! The programme list for EMD:

Jurong Bird Park Visit for Chinese TFU Project

On the 09/09/09 (a nice date, all"09"), I and 2 other classmates, one of them is the hated China guy (for some reason, he seems to be unpopular in class and always got insulted), went to Jurong Bird Park to take pictures for our Chinese TFU project, where each of group members will describe one of the picture.
After Chinese oral exam, we met at Bedok Interchange, then we board the MRT to Boon Lay Station. We had our lunch at Jurong Point and proceed to Boon Lay Interchange to take 194 to Jurong Bird Park.
When we arrived at Jurong Bird Park, we paid an admission fee of $18 each and went in. The first station we went is the Penguin Expedition, where we got to see Penguins in the tropical Singapore. We took pictures (which one of them I used for the project) and proceed to the next station. (see picture below)

The second station and onwards I don't really remember...but I remembered I visited the Pelican Cove, Flightless Birds, which are species of birds which do not fly, African Waterfall Aviary, where species of African birds are found, and most importantly, the waterfall, Lory Loft, where we got to walk inside a net where birds fly freely, and our last station was the World of Darkness, all dark, where owls live, I could not see anything at all! Here are some photos:

Pelican Cove: Pelicans are huge!

Flightless Birds: This bird can't fly!(I can't remember its name)

Lory Loft: This lory (parrot) was taking a picture with visitors!

African Waterfall Aviary: World's second man-made waterfall!

After finished taking the pictures, we went home. In total, we spent about 1h+ only there! What a waste of money! $18 for an hour? Not worth it at all! And time too! The journey to there and back took about almost 3 hours compared to 1 hour there? Lol! About 70% of time on bus and trains! We went all the way from Bedok to Jurong just to take pictures for our project. Besides that, we did not have much fun since we were in rush to take pictures. But never mind, at least I got engaged during my holidays instead of slacking. I hope that the next time going there will be much fun than this!

Army Open House 2009 Visit

On the last day of term 3, 4/9/2009, after collecting our report cards for CA2. We met up at the amphitheatre and boarded the bus to Pasir Laba Camp near Joo Koon MRT station.
As said that it is near Joo Koon station on the far west side, it must be very far from Victoria School, which is on the east side, the bus trip alone took about 1 hour +! Finally we arrived there, I saw throngs of people, mainly students, cadets or teachers-in-charge.
The first station we went was some exhibition in some air-conditioned room. There exhibited all about stuffs about the Singapore Army Force (SAF), history or weapons. We collected some freebies from people there. I then went to write and draw some message about what will you defend for Singapore, I drew a squarehead, actually represents one of my classmate (if you had read about the post on teachers' day in Victoria School), I drew him just for the sake for mocking and making fun of him but the messages I wrote were serious. We then took a group photo with that drawing of mine.
The Muslims and non-Muslims were then split up. The Muslims went home to prepare for break fast while non-Muslims went for shooting. When we arrived at the shooting range, we heard the sound of firing, it was very loud so we were given ear plugs. I had difficulties putting on the ear plugs and they irritated my ears a lot! Finally it was my turn to shoot, I picked up my courage and fired. The impact was big! I smelt the smell of gunpowder (since it was REAL SAR that can kill!). I managed to hit the target without miss with 5 turns, I then received a badge (see picture) from the people there.
After that we went to see some exhibitions of weapons such as tanks and rifles. Some of them were just amazing! Too bad we could not explore much as soon it was time to go back.
This trip is quite meaningful for me as I got to see the weapons used in SAF, which increases my interest in military stuffs. I received lots of freebies and most importantly, I got to shoot REAL SAR for the first time in my life! However, it was a pity as we only explored part of the events because of time-constraint, or it would be much more fun. But still we were much more lucky compared to the Muslims as they did not get to shoot.
When we arrived at school, it was already 7.30p.m. we were dismissed soon. I had to put my boots back into the locker. There, it was pitch dark! I had difficulty opening the locker since I could not see the numbers, at last I finally opened it. I then rushed out of school as I was not really afraid of dark, but actually being isolated alone! 7th lunar month some more! When I got out of school, I found out that I dropped my badge I got from the shooting range! Damn it! I went all the way back to the locker and faced the same fear, luckily I managed to find it.
I then went home, b the time I reached home, it was already 8.30p.m.

Teachers' Day 2009 Part 2 @ Fengshan Primary School

After celebrations at my current school, Victoria School, I had my lunch at KFC with one of my current classmate. Then I met up with my friend, Ahmad Aquashah, who is in the same primary school as me and also in the same secondary school as me though in different classes, outside of our primary school.
Finally I arrived at my primary school and saw my friend. We talked a lot about memories of primary school life, meanwhile, we were waiting for one of our best friend, known as TTM, in primary school, who went to Tanjong Katong Sec. We also noticed 2 VS sec 1 students from same CCA, NCC (Land). I recognised them quite well. No wonder their faces looked so familiar!
Finally the gate opened, we dashed into the school. I was feeling rather nervous, I wondered how my ex-form teacher and ex-classmates looked like now and how they react when they saw me. So we proceeded to the library. There, we saw our primary 6 form teacher and our old classmates, he asked us how is our secondary school life like and things like that. We gave him our presents and we proceeded to the canteen.
Meanwhile we were still waiting for TTM, my friend said that if he did not turn up, he would get bashed up by us next year. We then went to the amphitheatre, we did not know what they were going to do, so we decided to go home.
This visit to my primary school indeed brought back memories and glad to see that our ex-classmates and teachers still recognise us, we will also be going back next year for another purpose:
TO KILL TTM FOR NOT TURNING UP AFTER ALL THIS YEAR!

Teachers' Day 2009 Part 1 @ Victoria School

On 31/8/2009, a day before Teachers' Day, we had our celebration. In my current school, Victoria School, we first had our class celebration in our class first.
In class we played games organised by one of my classmate. The first game played was musical chair, where everyone has to grab a seat when the music stops. In my group I was the first one to compete. Luckily I managed to grab a seat. Everyone in my group managed to grab a seat except one. That guy is known as the squarehead in our class as his head is rather square. When it was his turn, he was the one who did not get a seat where people in other groups managed to. I started laughing and mocking at him, the next moment his face turned red and said:"YOU BETTER SHUT UP!"that made me wanting to mock at him more.
Next we played "splat". The rules: When a person is pointed with 2 arms, he is supposed to squat down and the 2 people next to him are supposed to wave to each other. When a person is pointed with 1 arm, he and the 2 people next to him are supposed to squat down. Sadly to say, our team screwed up like siao.
The last game we played was blind mice, where the person who is blind-folded is supposed to catch people. I did not participate in the game. Our group once again screwed up because of the squarehead-our marks deducted as he anyhow throw things at people. Our group members called him the saboking.
Overall, our group got the lowest points. We had to do a forfeit. We had to dance in front of whole class! Our group members reluctantly agreed to dance, with me leading the dance, except squarehead, who refused to dance at all cost. Everyone in class called him the SORE LOSER of the game since he did not have the guts to dance.
After that we went to the hall. We played a game. We had to guess who was the teacher from his/her young/child photo! Well we had lots of fun, especially when we knew how our teachers looked like when they were young.
Teachers' Day @ Victoria School was a rather fun event for me, hope that next year will be better...

Camp STEEL 2009 Part 2

This event was broken into 2 parts in case you get bored or confused by a whole lot of paragraphs. Anyway lets continue the event, Camp STEEL.
The second day was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE! I woke up at around 5.30a.m. since I could not sleep well. At around 6.15a.m. we went for our 5BX which involved as series of stretching warm-ups continued by exercises such as push-ups and jumping jets.
After that we went for our breakfast, that's the WORST BREAKFAST I had EVER. We had NasiLemak. The rice was okay, I ate the chili, it was not as spicy as tongue told me, so I finished the whole chili.
However, soon I after I finished my breakfast, I felt my stomach like burning! Guess I ate too much chili...However the pain got worse and worse, I could not take it and fall-out. I was sent to the clinic nearby. I told myself: NEVER EVER TAKE SAMBAL CHILI AGAIN though I didn't after that since I could not resist the temptation.
When I arrived at the clinic, I filled in some forms and waited for my turn, the wait was freakingly long! Finally was my turn to go in the consultation room. I told the medical officer everything about the pain. It was another freaking long wait before I collect my medicine. I asked the officers there when I would be fetched back to the camp, guess what? He said he didn't know! All he told me was to wait. I was worried of being trapped there alone. There went another long wait before they arrived and fetched me back. About 1 hour 30 minutes was gone...
When I got back to the camp, I was relieved that I finally saw my platoon mates. We were then doing rappelling. I asked them what I had missed. They said that I had missed the obstacle course (MOC)! Damn it! I had once again missed the MOC like I did in Camp FEAST! But there was no point crying over spilt milk. I decided to go rappelling since my pain was almost gone. When it was my turn, I started to tremble as I was afraid of height. The guy told me to look left look right look down in order to increase my bravery. I then started to rappel downwards. I was not as scary as I thought. That's the only good thing on the second day!
Then it started raining! Stupid rain! Our paintball was cancelled! We waited for don't know how long. Due to the heavy rain, we had to eat our lunch at the narrow dirty ground inside the bunk building.
After that we went to our bunk and packed up. We then went down and collect our certificates. Then boarded the bus back to school and HOME SWEET HOME!
Overall I felt that this camp was quite boring and relatively badly organised (since this was the first time they organised the camp) compared to last year's Camp FEAST. They should plan wet weather activities so we do not waste our time waiting like we did during the paintball time. Together I missed the MOC and paintball, what a pity! Nevertheless, it was an unforgettable camp. I HOPE THAT I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO A BORING CAMP LIKE THIS!
