My school projects

Now it is the school holidays, I can finally relax and forget all the troublesome school projects, but let me recall some of the school projects done by our group.
First was my Maths project. We were supposed to apply our knowledge of the Pythagoras's theorem to make a model of the pyramid. First, we were going to use the scale to convert the pyramid of Khufu (I think so) from 30m to 1 cm (which I also think so), record down the calculations. We had to work in groups of three. I am glad that we had gotten full marks for the project
Next was our Science (Chemistry) project. We had to apply our knowledge to investigate if some substance is an acid or alkali. The first part was some PowerPoint presentations on some reactions involving hydrochloric acid. The second part was to do some practical to test if some random substances was an acid or alkali. Sadly to say we (especially me as we worked in groups of four) screwed up the project.
Next was our Geography project. We were supposed to do a report to persuade the principal to allow us to build some hydroponic farms in our school. I was not very sure about it as I was one of the slackers in this project (as others did, only one member did most of the work, I only suggest some questions for interview). I am glad that we scored an A1(75% and above) for this project.
Next was my Higher Chinese project. We were supposed to do some interview on some traditional shops and then present to everyone in class. Sadly, we totally screwed up as we didn't have enough information on the interviewed shop.
Next was my literature project. We were supposed to create a multimedia based on the poem we selected. It was hard for me as this was my first time doing a multimedia. The recommended software to use was Windows Movie Maker but in the end one of my classmate told me to use Power bullet, a software for doing flash. It was much more difficult to use than WMM and the effect produced was still quite acceptable. After a hard time doing the multimedia, we got 10/15 for this, which I think is so so...
Finally was my D&T project, we were supposed to create a diorama based on the book Macbeth. After much planning, we finally started building it. Most of the planned stuffs went smoothly except for some little problems. After a few months, we were ready to submit. I am glad that we got 75/100 which is an A1 for our diorama, even though not the best in class to be displayed during Arts Day.
Before all these, we still had many projects, it would be too exhaustive to list everything down. Finally I can get rid of all these projects, except for OPW, which we were supposed to create a heritage trail based on Katong. This project lasted until September, lets hope I could get rid of it soon...
This post was actually done on 30/5/2009 as I draft it before typing.

My NCC badges and rank...

Recently, I am very bored and had nothing to do, I have no choice but to spam my blog. All I want to tell you is I have gotten 5 NCC badges. They are the Water Ambassador badge, Energy Conservation badge, my napfa badge(bronze), the 1-star kayaking badge and finally, the Total Defence badge. I have already gotten the Water Ambassador badge and the Energy Conservation badge (shown in the picture). I have 3 badges that I have yet gotten, and one more important thing, my Lance Corporal rank, which I waited freakingly long, other schools had already gotten it four to five months earlier than us! I am getting terribly impatient and thinking of buying my own rank. Updates will be available in a later post, lets hope I would be able to receive my rank and badges soon...

sorry for poor quality of picture...

Reflections on my CA1 results

As CA1 is over, I think that I had not done really well. I got a MSG of 2.7. Which I think is not that good. What pulled me down is my English, thanks to the blog assignment, as mentioned in the previous post, which I did badly. Another subject that pulled me down is my Literature, which I HATE the most, due to the difficult-to-understand book, Macbeth. I got a C6 for lit, almost failed, I told myself NEVER EVER take lit in sec3. I am also a bit disappointed in my Geography, my master subject, even though I got an A1, as I did not get the second highest in class. As for my D&T, I screwed up, getting a B4. For my Higher Chinese, I got a B3, but still, I am in the top 15% of the cohort. For my Science(Biology), I got an A1, but I still feel nothing special about it, since a lot of people got an A1 too. The happiest result I got is my Maths, which I scored 95%, but somehow I think I just tyco(lucky), since my algebra is not that good.

For now, all I hoped for my SA1 is a better score than CA1 and a considerable class & school position.

Unfair assessment of blog

Walao, 30/50 for my blog assignment(the post on Chinese New Year) only? So low marks? What is this? Anyhow mark the blog, happy give high marks, not happy give low marks, I would have gotten an A1 or A2 for English. I am not scolding anyone, just want to know why I did soooo badly?
